What can our clients expect?

Who are our clients?
Pakuranga Counselling Centre is open to any person, couple or family who wish to talk through an issue, concern or conflict that is causing distress or emotional challenges.

We accept self-referrals, as well as referrals from medical professionals, schools, community agencies, businesses, government agencies and ministers, etc.

As a client you can expect:

  • To receive a professional service, offering privacy and confidentiality
  • To be treated with dignity, cultural sensitivity and respect in a caring and supportive environment
  • To be involved in the planning of your ongoing counselling
  • To be referred on to other appropriate professional services or agencies, when necessary. This will be discussed with you, should the occasion arise
  • To have the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi honoured
  • To have your spirituality respected, and the right to choose your own spiritual path. Spiritual matters will only be discussed when raised by the client
  • To have access to a complaints process, should you have any concerns or wish to make a formal complaint
  • In all situations that the welfare and interests of a child or young person are the first and paramount considerations, as outlined in the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act (1989)
